"Frage: Neville, letzten Freitag haben Sie uns erzählt, wie Sie Termine in New York wahrgenommen haben, Sie haben einen Fall angenommen und sind dann zum nächsten gegangen, hatten Sie noch eine andere Technik als die, die Sie uns bereits erklärt haben?
Antwort: Nein, ich finde, wenn ich jede Anfrage annehme, meine ungeteilte Aufmerksamkeit demjenigen schenke, der mir mit Worten definiert, was er will, und dann nach bestem Wissen und Gewissen davon ausgehe, dass er hat, was er sich wünscht; und dann - anstatt mich damit zu befassen und mich zu fragen, wie es nach der schrecklichen Geschichte, die er mir über sich selbst erzählt hat, funktionieren wird, dann sagt er mir, dass er dies, das und das andere will, und ich denke an tausend Dinge, und das ist alles störend - indem ich mich einem anderen zuwende, lasse ich ihn völlig fallen und schenke diesem Zustand keine weitere Aufmerksamkeit, dann halte ich den Sabbat im Verhältnis zu ihm. Denn der Sabbat ist nicht ein Tag von vierundzwanzig Stunden. Er ist nicht irgendein Tag oder Samstag oder Sonntag oder irgendetwas anderes, das die Kirchen am Leben erhalten. Der Sabbat ist jener Moment der Ruhe, in dem der Geist ungestört ist, nachdem er die Arbeit getan hat. Und so hat er gearbeitet und alles für gut befunden. Das ist alles subjektiv. Er sah also alles, was er getan hatte, und es war sehr gut, und dann ruhte der Herr. Der 7. Tag ist also der Sabbat des Herrn und an ihm soll der Mensch keine Arbeit verrichten. Aber wenn Gott und der Mensch eins sind, dann sollte man es so machen, wie der Herr es macht. Wie man euch sagt, sollt ihr Gott nachahmen wie liebe Kinder. Nun, wenn er es so macht, dass er etwas, das nicht sichtbar ist, so nennt, als ob es sichtbar wäre, und dann wird das Unsichtbare sichtbar, nun, dann ahmt ihn nach. Aber versucht, den Sabbat zu halten. Der Sabbat ist eine Zeitspanne, in der man völlig ungestört ist.
Ich dachte an diesen Sabbat, als ich im Mai nach New York fuhr, und dachte über zwei Titel nach. Ich dachte, nun, das Wort Sabbat ist kein ansprechender Titel für die Leute, weil es bedeutet... nun, sie gehen am Sonntag in die Kirche oder sie gehen am Samstag in die Kirche und was soll's. Wer wird schon über den Sabbat reden? Ich sagte zu meiner Frau, und ich meinte es in dem Moment ganz ernst, sie dachte, es sei ein Witz. Ich sagte: "Nein, ich scherze nicht. Du schreibst eine mystische Schwangerschaft oder eine kreative Schwangerschaft, aber das Wort Schwangerschaft kommt darin vor." Es ist ein schwangerer Zustand... so dass man etwas erschafft, es ist ein kreativer Akt, und der Sabbat ist Teil des kreativen Aktes. Und so erschaffe ich es vor meinem geistigen Auge, ich sehe es klar und bekomme die emotionale Begeisterung, die Explosion, die mit dem kreativen Akt einhergeht, nur dass es subjektiv geschieht, und dann hält man den Sabbat. Nun, der Sabbat ist die Zeit der Schwangerschaft. Und was tut man, um die Schwangerschaft zu fördern? Man lässt sie in Ruhe. Jeder Versuch Ihrerseits, sie zu unterstützen, führt zu einer geistigen Fehlgeburt. Lassen Sie sie einfach in Ruhe. Sie kommt zu ihrer eigenen Zeit auf die Welt. Ich nenne es also einfach eine kreative Schwangerschaft. Und wenn ich es auf diese Weise nehme und dann ganz fallen lasse, und mich dann einer anderen Sache zuwende und sie wieder fallen lasse, auf dieselbe leichte Art und Weise, dann wird alles zu einem kreativen Akt.
Ich weiß nichts anderes, was ich Ihnen sagen könnte. Ich habe keine Geheimnisse. Jedes Mal, wenn ich das Podium betrete, gebe ich Ihnen alles, was ich in diesem Moment habe. Ich habe keine speziellen Kurse, bei denen ich Ihnen mehr geben könnte, als ich es tue, damit Sie darüber diskutieren können. Es gibt Leute, die aus dem Nichts auftauchen, an die man vorher nicht gedacht hat oder die man im Moment vergessen hat, aber das bedeutet nicht, dass man ein Geheimnis hat. Ich erzähle alles."
Q: Neville, last Friday you told us about how you had taken appointments in New York, you’d take one case and then go to the next, did you have any specific technique other than what you’ve already taught us?
A: No, I find that if I would take any request, give my undivided attention to the one who is defining for me in words what he wants, and then assume to the best of my ability that he has what he desires; and then turn—instead of dwelling upon it, wondering how is it going to work after the horrible story that he told me about himself, then he tells me he wants this, that and the other, and I’m thinking of a thousand things and it’s all disturbing—by turning to another I drop him completely and pay no further attention to that state, then I am keeping the sabbath relative to him. For the sabbath is not a day of twenty-four hours. It is not any day or Saturday or Sunday or anything else that the churches keep alive. The sabbath is that moment of rest when the mind is undisturbed, having done the work. And so, he worked and judged everything good. It’s all subjective. So he saw everything that he had done and it was very good, and then the Lord rested. So the 7th day is the sabbath of the Lord and in it man should not do any work. But if God and man are one, well then, do it as the Lord does it. As you’re told, be imitators of God as dear children. Well, if this is how he does it, he calls a thing that is not seen as though it were and then the unseen becomes seen, well then, imitate him. But try to keep the sabbath. The sabbath is that interval of time where you are completely undisturbed.
I was thinking of this sabbath going to New York in May and thinking about two titles. I thought, well now, the word sabbath is not an appealing title for people because it means…well, they go to church on Sunday or they go to church on Saturday and so what. Who’s going to talk about the sabbath? I said to my wife, and I meant it at the moment, quite seriously, she thought it was a joke. I said, “No, I’m not kidding. You put down mystical pregnancy or a creative pregnancy, but get the word pregnancy in it.” It’s a pregnant state…so that you create, it’s a creative act, and the sabbath is part of the creative act. And so, I create it in my mind’s eye, I see it clearly, and get the emotional thrill, the explosion that comes with the creative act, only it’s done subjectively, and then you keep the sabbath. Well, the sabbath is that interval of pregnancy. And what do you do to aid pregnancy? Leave it alone. Any attempt on your part to aid it will bring about a mental miscarriage. Just leave it alone. It comes in its own good time into the world. So I simply call it a creative pregnancy. And so, if I just take it this way and then drop it completely, and then turn to another, and then drop it, in the same light vein, each then becomes a creative act.
I do not know anything else that I could tell you. I have no secrets. Every time I take the platform I give you all that I have for the moment. I have no special classes that I could give you more than I do for you to discuss. Some people come out of the nowhere, that you never thought of before or for the moment you’ve forgotten, but that doesn’t mean you have a secret. I tell it all.
